I posted my hotteok recipe yesterday afternoon and this morning I got email from one of my long time readers Jenny (from Singapore). She attached her hotteok photos! OMG! so quick! Her hotteok looks like almost identical to my hoddeok! : ) of course!
Looking at the photos, I feel full of happiness in my heart. Thank you, Jenny! You trust my recipe! You must have been waiting for my new recipe! I want to give you big hug if you were here.
I like to share my happiness with all of my readers, so I decided to blog about this.
Jenny says,
“I made this with Jia xin. If I don’t stop her. she’ll eat 2 pieces. Well,I think the pancakes size is quite big for her. For kids I made hotteok with sliced cheese. I love the flavour of the cinnamon powder. Thx for sharing this easy recipe… Love u Maangchi muah…muah…”
I love you, too! “muah..muah..” : )
These are the photos that she sent. You can tell her cooking skill by looking at these 2 photos. Check her page on my website. You will see so many photos of Korean dishes that she made.

I have hoddeok dough rising in a covered casserole right now :)
How did it turn out?
I also think my kids will love these!
You have grown kids? I thought you were young and single LOL. How old are your kids?
You love to travel, are you coming to the UK?
Hmmm..This reminded me of my own photo of hoddeok using the recipe here. I was also excited to find that recipe finally that I think I also made it soon after. Problem is … I am not sure where I’ve saved it. Gotta hunt it up to for a “Show and Tell” in the online class, Maangchi. ;)
“I am not sure where I’ve saved it.” lol, it always happens to me, too! : )
Thx Brigitte,i learn it from my dearest teacher…Maangchi
Thx Maangchi,u makes me smiling whole day….btw, can i replace mung bean starch with water chestnut flour or konnyaku jelly powder for Cheongpomuk muchim ? I can’t find mung bean starch here.Really want to try that recipe.
no, you need to get the mungbean starch powder sold at a Korean store. Check the Korean grocery store in Singapore that I found on the internet.

hi! i LOVE hoddeok! my mom used to buy these in bulk and keep them in the freezer. i didn’t realize you could ACTUALLY make these at home! one question though. this is a double kneaded dough? so after the first hour of rising, you just punch it? you don’t have to turn it out and knead before the second rise?
thanks! i’m going to make it tonight!
yes, check the recipe here:
