Yangwang U9 Xtreme Joins Gran Turismo 7: World's Most Powerful Production Car Revealed! (2025)

The World's Most Powerful Production Car is Coming to Gran Turismo 7

The highly anticipated Gran Turismo 7 is set to get even more exciting with the addition of the record-breaking Yangwang U9 Xtreme supercar. This confirmation comes as a result of recent activity from PlayStation in China, including the official launch of the PS5 Pro and a launch event at Porsche Shanghai, where series creator Kazunori Yamauchi was spotted.

Posts on PlayStation China's official Weibo and Bilibili accounts have confirmed the inclusion of the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, featuring prominent Gran Turismo logo stickers. The confirmation is accompanied by a promotional video showcasing the U9 Xtreme in action, driving on the Shanghai International Circuit.

The video is likely to raise eyebrows, as it features the U9 Xtreme driving on a real-world track, despite no official material suggesting the circuit's inclusion in the game. However, this is not the first time the circuit has been mentioned. In 2012, Yamauchi mentioned visiting the track to consider integrating 'elements' into a future Gran Turismo title. In 2016, he stated that Polyphony Digital had wanted to add the circuit for some time and was making arrangements.

These comments have fueled speculation among fans, and the circuit's appearance in the promotional video will only strengthen these rumors. The recent announcement of the next two confirmed tracks for Gran Turismo 7 Spec III, Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Canada, suggests a trend towards incorporating more contemporary Grand Prix venues.

The Yangwang U9 Xtreme is a remarkable vehicle, part of the BYD Auto group, the world's largest producer of electric vehicles. It is their halo marque, focusing on technology. The U9 Xtreme is a limited-run, track-focused model with an astonishing 2,977hp, making it the most powerful production car in the world. It also holds the EV production car lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, achieving a sub-seven-minute time of 6:59.157 earlier this year.

This is the second Chinese car set for inclusion in Gran Turismo 7, with the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra confirmed back in June. However, the exact release date for these cars in the game remains unclear. The Gran Turismo World Series event in Los Angeles on November 8th is expected to provide more information, and fans are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see these cars in action.
